Khutšo Kurhula, Mopani district, Limpopo

Since its start in 2004 the Khutšo Kurhula (KK) programme has developed guidelines, protocols, administrative tools, registers, and posters that reflect the two service models which we developed. The models include a ‘Wellness programme’ model and an ‘ART site’ model (downreferral or accreditation), in resource poor areas. They reflect our principal that all HIV care, including ART should be available in primary care setting, and that pre-ART care at the clinic level is the key to a successful ART programme. A second principal of the programme is reflected by our ‘bottom-up’ approach: the participation of clients in the services. We spend time and effort to train and re-train support groups, community members, and volunteers in all HIV related topics. A well informed client is the best recipe to prevent treatment defaulting and loss to follow up.

Below you can find all materials that we have developed for the implementation of our service models. We call them our ‘tools’. They are downloadable and free to use. We would appreciate it if our name was mentioned as the source of it, as follows: ‘Khutso Kurhula/ PHRU, Mopani District, Limpopo’ If any questions, please contact our office in Tzaneen.
